Our Story
so far

Tata Electronics, a greenfield initiative established by the Tata Group in 2020, is a leading global player in the electronics manufacturing sector.  The company has rapidly developed its expertise in Electronics Manufacturing Services, Semiconductor Assembly and Test, Semiconductor Foundry, and Design Services.

Our Journey Timeline section

2020

-  Commencement of discussions with anchor customer for the Electronics Manufacturing Services business. 

-  Formation of the seed team to set up Tata Electronics. 

-  Groundbreaking for the greenfield plant at Hosur, Tamil Nadu. 

2021

-  Construction of the Hosur, Tamil Nadu plant completed within 11 months.  The plant becomes fully operational for the Electronics Manufacturing Services business. 

2022

-  Development of the first market-ready product from our Electronics Manufacturing Services business.

-  First customer shipment from the factory.

2023

-  Initiation of design for the first commercial Semiconductor Assembly and Test facility at Vemagal, Karnataka. 

-  The first product shipped from this facility to the customer using indigenously developed IC packaging technology.

2024

-  Government of India approves proposal from Tata Electronics to set up a semiconductor Fab at Dholera, Gujarat, and an indigenous semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad, Assam.

-  Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi lays the Foundation stone for the semiconductor Fab at Dholera, Gujarat, and the semiconductor assembly and test facility at Jagiroad, Assam. 

-  Acquisition of Wistron’s India operations for the Electronics Manufacturing Services operation.  New entity rebranded as Tata Electronics Systems Solutions (TESS). 

2024

-  Tata Electronics and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation(PSMC) complete the definitive agreement towards setting up a semiconductor Fab in Dholera, Gujarat.

-  Strategic partnerships with global organisations such as Analog Devices, Synopsys, Tokyo Electron Limited (TEL), and ASMPT towards advancing the semiconductor ecosystem in India.
